Treat menopausal bone loss with this vibration therapy protocol for a more youthful body shape

It’s not just fat to blame. The menopausal bone loss and subsequent shrinking in height, plus stooped posture, leads to massive changes in the torso: a thicker waistline, “apple shape” and protruding abdomen. Our vibration therapy protocol corrects these problems and restores a more youthful body shape. Listen to this episode to learn how our vibration therapy protocol strengthens bones, corrects posture and slims the torso…all in just minutes a day.

Menopause changes the body.  And it does not discriminate.  It affects all women sooner or later.  And since the majority of our body contouring clients are women, we expect you see a lot of menopausal women.  So you need to be prepared to assist them to the fullest.  When they come to you asking for help in reducing the size of their belly, what will your plan entail?  Well of course fat reduction, the 6 in 1 protocols, but there’s more.  The bone loss associated with menopause also plays a significant role in the belly problem. Think about it.  Because of menopausal bone loss, women shrink in height. That leads to a more compact torso, with less room for curves, a thicker waistline, a more pronounced protruding abdomen, a torso with an “apple shape,” not to mention the stooped neck!  That’s all really awful, right?  But the good news is we can help with bone loss.  With vibration therapy.  Our science-based medspa vibration therapy formula for menopausal bone loss to be specific. And in this episode, we’re gonna give you the scoop as we walk you through the biological changes of menopause and detail the science-backed mechanisms of vibration therapy that restores a more youthful body by strengthening bones, correcting posture, and slimming the torso.  So stay tuned!

You’re listening to The Body Contouring Academy’s Proven Profits Podcast

Where you’ll learn simple actionable strategies from real world successful body contouring professionals to help you generate more revenue, realize the profits you want and create the life you desire.

Hi I’m Shannon and I’m Kay and we’re your hosts of The Proven Profits Podcast

Kay:

Hi there healthcare professionals, business owners, body contouring technicians and beauty professionals!  Welcome everyone!   Kay here. Shannon and I want to thank you for being here too!

It’s a fact.  Women ‘shrink in height’ at midlife and beyond.  Menopausal bone loss is to blame.  And let’s face it.  Losing inches of height drastically changes a woman’s body shape.  Not to mention the increased risk for fractures involved with bone loss.

As med spa owners/operators, we know firsthand the toll that menopause can take on a woman’s body.  For twenty years, we’ve used science-based therapies to assist women in fighting them.

One of those body shaping treatments is our whole-body vibration therapy formula for menopausal bone loss.  It strengthens bones, corrects posture, slims the torso and improves overall body shape ….all in just a few minutes a few days a week.  Sounds too good to be true?  In this episode, we’ll show you it is true.  We’re going to walk you through the biological, physiological and body shape changes of menopause and detail the science-backed mechanisms of vibration therapy that directly fight menopausal bone loss and deliver an improved and more youthful body shape.

Menopausal women can build bone strength (and improve body shape) in just a few minutes in a few days a week

Whole-body vibration therapy is a safe, effective and easy way to help build and strengthen bones…and improve body shape.  The great thing about vibration therapy?  It requires very little time, nearly zero effort and…women can do it even if they have limited mobility or if they have pain with other exercises.

That’s it in a nutshell.  Now let’s dive into the details.

First let’s discuss the..

Reasons why menopausal bone loss changes the shape of a woman’s body

What happens to a woman’s bones during menopause?

Declining estrogen levels lead to bone loss

Falling estrogen levels during menopause disrupts the balance of bone formation and bone breakdown.   As a result, bone breakdown outpaces bone formation which leads to a significant loss of bone.

On average, menopausal women lose 25% of their bone mass by age 60. Just from menopause.

There are really High fracture risks as a result of menopausal bone loss

Menopausal bone loss can lead to osteoporosis (the clinical term for reduced bone density and bone mass).  Osteoporosis makes bones extremely susceptible to fractures.

And it’s common.  Eighty percent of women develop osteoporosis and approximately 50% of menopausal women experience a fracture related to osteoporosis.

Now you know what happens to bone during menopause and the health risks associates with that.  Let’s move on to…

What ways does menopausal bone loss change a woman’s body shape?

Shrinking in height

Women shrink in height as a result of menopause due to both loss of bone mass and bone density, which affects the spinal vertebrae, which become more compact and smaller.   And this shrinking in height really affects a woman’s body shape…in a bad way.

Major changes in a woman’s body shape caused by shrinking in height

Thicker, shorter torso and protruding abdomen

Thicker waistline:  Menopausal bone loss leaves the torso of the body shorter and more compact…leaving less room for the curves of a waist.

Protruding abdomen: Menopausal bone loss shortens the torso which often results in a bigger, bulging abdomen.

Apple shaped body: The compressed space in the trunk often creates an ‘apple shaped’ torso.

   II.      Stooping posture

The loss of bone in the spinal vertebrae changes (compresses) the spinal structure and in the cervical spine and part of the thoracic spine, this leads to a condition called kyphosis.  Kyphosis is the clinical term used to describe the stooping posture commonly seen in post-menopausal women.

III.    Muscle loss exacerbates the thicker, shorter torso, protruding abdomen and stooping posture

The health of muscle and bone are highly interconnected; that’s how menopausal bone loss accelerates the muscle loss associated with menopause and aging.

The menopausal muscle loss and muscle weakness increases and furthers both (1) the thicker torso and protruding abdomen and (2) the postural changes associated with a stooping posture.

This is all so awful.  But there is good news!

Menopausal women can both (1) prevent (start early), and/or (2) correct these changes in body shape caused by menopausal bone loss.

Our science-based medspa vibration therapy formula for menopausal bone loss works!

But before we detail vibration therapy (which is a great treatment option), let’s discuss the available treatment options for menopausal bone loss.

What are the treatment options for the bone loss associated with menopause?

Medical management

Personalized medical management.

Several long term prescription medication options are available, as well as prescription hormonal options.  All of these meds can slow the progression of menopausal bone loss.  This is a decision that should be made between the menopausal woman and her physician.

DIY and lifestyle options for management of menopause related bone loss

Supplements

First, just so you know, We are not detailing the benefits or dosages of any of the supplements because we don’t have time for this podcast.  Look for future episodes covering it thoroughly.

To maintain bone health during menopause, women can consider supplementing:

Vitamin D3

Vitamin K2

Time-released Calcium

Magnesium Glycerinate

Diet rich in bone building nutrients

And as with supplements, we’re not detailing foods today.  You can look for it in future episodes.

To assist in maintaining bone health during menopause, women can consume:

Foods rich in calcium

Adequate protein

Foods containing Vitamin D

Exercise

To build bones (and muscle) during menopause, women can consider incorporating:

Weight-bearing exercises

Walking, dancing, jogging

 Strength training

Weight lifting, resistance bands

Balance exercises (to prevent falls)

Tai Chi, Yoga

 BUT

Most women are missing…

And should incorporate…

Our easy and effective whole-body vibration therapy formula for menopausal bone loss…the final treatment category: technology.

Technology

Whole-Body Vibration Therapy Technology

Vibration therapy addresses all of the issues associated with menopausal bone loss.

(1)  Increases bone mass and density

(2)  Builds, tones and strengthens muscles

       and

(3)  Improves balance

It takes just a few minutes for a few days a week…plus! women can do vibration therapy even if they have limited mobility or if they have pain or difficulty with other exercises.

How does our vibration therapy formula for menopausal bone loss

improve the shape of the body?

First, let's review the basics…

What is whole-body vibration therapy?

Whole-body vibration therapy is a passive exercise therapy that sends micro-vibrations throughout the body, causing muscles to contract and relax throughout the entire body leading to multiple benefits.

We love vibration therapy.  One of the reasons is the enormous variety of benefits it delivers.  Listen carefully to the benefits of

Whole-Body Vibration Therapy

Check out the first 3 benefits of vibration therapy!  (But it does so much more.)

↳   Builds Bone Mass and Increases Bone Density

     ↳   Strengthens and Builds Muscles

     ↳   Improves Balance

Improves Circulation

Reduces Cellulite

Improves Flexibility

Promotes Weight Loss

Improves Cognitive Function

Promotes Relaxation

Improves Lymphatic Function

Maybe you’re wondering how ONE technology can do so much

It all boils down to

vibration therapy’s mechanism of action

Vibration therapy affects every system of the body - including bone and muscle…all in a positive way.

⇨ As far as physiological benefits of our vibration therapy, it

Improves bone density, mass and strength

Strengthens and tones muscles

Improves balance

⇨ As well as other benefits that lead to a better body shape

Promoting weight loss

That’s how Vibration therapy delivers an improved body shape!

Now let’s go deeper and break the science and physiology down…

Here’s how our vibration therapy formula for menopausal bone loss provides the benefits.

Force (Gravity) (stimulates bones, improves bone density, mass and strength)

The whole body vibration machine produces a vibrating side-to-side and back-and-forth motion generating forces upon the body from 1G to 6G’s, depending on the amplitude and frequency of the settings used.

By creating this safe and controlled mechanical stress on the body, it stimulates the bones to adapt and become denser and stronger.

Muscle Micro-Adjustments (strengthens muscle and improves balance)

When standing on the vibration therapy machine, every muscle in the body is forced to react in a continuous flow of micro-adjustments...contracting...then relaxing...rapidly, repeatedly and reflexively.

This can engage up to 98% of the muscle fibers, producing big rewards in just a short amount of time.

The up-and-down motion improves muscle tone and strengthens muscles.

The side-to-side and front-to-back motion improves balance.

Neuromuscular Stimulation (provides the ability to produce multiple benefits)

What causes the multiple beneficial physiological changes?  The rapid-firing of the muscles causes an impactful neuromuscular response that flows through the entire body.

Now you know HOW it delivers, so what kind of body shape improvements can you expect from our vibration therapy formula for menopausal bone loss?

A slimmer abdomen and torso

More feminine curves

A more erect posture

Better muscle tone and strength

A more youthful body shape

Are you excited about getting started?  We hope so.

And we’re going to share the basic protocol for our vibration therapy formula for menopausal bone loss…but…so you can better understand the steps in the protocol…

Let’s talk about the two types of vibration therapy machines that you can use.

The Best Whole-Body Vibration Therapy machines

There are two types of whole-body vibration therapy machines.

Whole-body vibration therapy platform

Whole-body vibration therapy plate

The Best Whole-Body Vibration Therapy Platform

These machines have fixed handles for holding while using the machine.

These machines are best suited for

The professional setting because it's the safest for all types of patients.

We use machines like this one in our medspa because we have patients of all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities.

Anyone who has balance or mobility issues.

If you have balance or mobility issues, or pain when doing other types of exercises, we recommend this machine.

We have left a link in today’s show notes that takes you to the vibration therapy machines we’ve used in our medspas for more than ten years!  We have used two of them, keeping them busy all day everyday for more than ten years…so we’d say they are durable machines.  Check out the link for the details.

Now moving on to…

The Best Whole-Body Vibration Therapy Plate

The other type of vibration therapy machine is a plate without arms or safety handles.

(great for use by DIYers at home! And for professionals with fit clients with good balance or for those professionals who accompany their clients while on the vibration plate)

These machines are best suited for

Those with limited space.  They fit under a sofa, so you can pull them out to use and then put them away.

Those who want a lower price point.  They have a lower price point than the platform machines.

We have left a link in our show notes to the very same vibration therapy machine that we (Shannon and Kay) own and use at home.  We are both menopausal.  Check this machine out.  It’s very affordable.

Now let’s get to the how-to of our vibration therapy formula for bone loss.

How do you use whole body vibration therapy to fight menopausal bone loss?

First of all, we recommend using vibration therapy a minimum of 3 times a week but if less than that, it’s better than zero.

And since we’ve used this technology for so many years, we have developed several advanced techniques, but you can target menopausal bone loss and achieve an improved body shape with the following simple steps:

Program Setting:

Start with Program 1 and use it at that setting for at least the first 1-2 weeks.

Advance to Program 2 thereafter (when you’re ready).  This is highly variable based on the level of fitness, balance and size.

We do not recommend Program 3 for menopausal bone loss.  (These machines are designed for people of all ages, fitness abilities and goals.)

Steps

Stand comfortably with your feet slightly wider apart than your shoulders.

Turn the machine on and set your program.

Programs run 10 - 15 minutes, depending on the particular machine you use.

It’s simple, right?  And it’s all you need to do!  These are the very steps used by the majority of our medspa patients for years.

BUT…if you want more of a challenge, we’ll give you a bonus.  Here’s some advanced techniques.

Advanced Vibration Therapy Techniques that you can do at home (optional)

Follow the steps above.  Divide your time on the machine in half and during the second half, stand with your feet as wide apart as possible.

Divide your time equally by four and take these actions:

Stand with your feet shoulder width apart.

Stand with your feet as wide apart as possible.

Stand with one foot in front of the other.

Stand with the other foot in front of the other.

Divide your time equally by three and follow these steps:

Stand with your feet shoulder width apart.

Stand with one foot in front of the other.

Stand with the other foot in front of the other.

And finally, an advanced technique that combines another therapy:

    4.  Wear a Weighted Vest during your vibration therapy workout session.

Take a look at the benefits of adding a weighted vest:

Puts more stress on your bones for better bone building

Improves your posture by pulling your shoulders back

Helps you build muscle and strength

Can burn up to 3X more calories

We have left a link in today’s show notes to the weighted vest we like and use!  Check it out.

↳ Please note you’ll have options for various amounts of weight.  We recommend using light weights, the 4-10 pound size.

What do you think?  You’ve heard it all.  Now it’s time to purchase your vibration therapy machine and get started!

Check out the machines.
